Feeling like your look is a bit dated recently? Looking for ways to appear younger but still sophisticated and sexy? Start with your hair!

Here are a few tips to shave a couple years off your look!

1. Curly Styles

Straight hair tends to make your facial features look a bit more sharp and severe.

Curly hair, from tight spiral curls to loose waves, can soften features, making you appear more youthful and radiant.

Here is an example of my hair straightened (roller wrapped) and then set on flexi rods and bantu knots. Curls tend to open up the face and make it appear fuller, brighter and younger.

2. Go Short

Long hair can often make you look older!

In addiiton, long hair can tend to look like a "hair blanket", drawing attention away from your face and figure.

A polished bob can highlight your facial features, subsequently making you look more sophisticated and youthful.

3. Bangs and Layers

Try to isolate the feature you love the most and draw attention to it with bangs or layers.

If you wish to accentuate full lips and minimize eye wrinkles, a side bang will draw attention to the lower part of your face and jawline.

To draw attention to a cute nose or smile, a blunt bang is a great choice.

4. Color

Youthful vibrant color can also make you appear younger.

Color can help cover any grey hairs and can add depth and thickness to the hair.

To preserve the health and condition of your hair, opt for plant-based or semi permanent hair color treatments like henna or cellophane treatments. Both will color and condition the hair. They are a great way to add vibrant color to dull, brassy hair.

5. Condition

Blame it on human nature! Shiny, healthy hair has always been a symbol of youth and beauty.

One of the best (and cheapest) ways to get instant shine is to apply a beaten egg to unwashed, yet damp hair. Let sit for 30 minutes and then shampoo and condition as usual. Finish with a quick cold water rinse and the shine will be out of this world!
