What is Healthy Textures?
We are a membership website for women of color seeking healthier hair at home. We create original written, video and interactive content for our members. We also retail hair products and videos in our E-store.
What are the benefits of becoming a member?
Members will have access to premium content and will belong to a small network of positive women of color interested in healthy hair care and self-improvement.
Why charge a membership? Why not make the site free and charge for advertising?
A membership enables us to be independent evaluators and content providers. Our content is in no way influenced by advertising and are able to maintain a clean, professional website without invasive banner ads, page ads or pre/post roll video ads.
As a membership site, we are able to focus on providing unique content and recommending quality products that we feel would benefit our members. We also are able to spotlight more small and minority owned businesses who might not have had the resources to support the site.
How does HT differ from blogs and forums?
With blogs, it is very difficult to organize content. The visitor has to sift and search through months, even years of content to find what they are looking for. This can become overwhelming for first time visitors. HT organizes its content, making it easy to find what you are looking for. We also have various contributors so that the content is not based on one person's perspective. Lastly, our site and content is updated on a consistent basis and is professionally designed and edited.
With forums, it can also be very difficult to find information. Those new to the site have to catch up and my be intimidated to jump in. In addition, some viewers may be shy or perfer to remain anonymous. HT allows these readers to access the content they need and interact with the owner or specialists on the site on a more one-to-one basis. Our forum is also smaller and more intimate.
How do I know if the site is safe? Will my privacy be respected?
